Full and Fair Funding for Pennsylvania Public Schools
What can be done? On February 12th at 7:30 PM at Glenside
UCC, Cecily Harwitt, Statewide Campaign Director for POWER – Philadelphians Organized
to Witness, Empower and Rebuild will speak to us about the formation of Metro
POWER, an organization in the Philadelphia suburbs which will be focusing on
the full and fair funding issue. A mass
meeting for Metro Power is scheduled for March 12.
for Ash Wednesday with other Philly UCC Folks
begins on Ash Wednesday, February 18. On
Ash Wednesday the pastor marks our foreheads with ashes as a reminder to keep
the 40 days of Lent as a time of reflection and turning toward God. One year we had a service together with
Lighthouse Fellowship and we all appreciated the energy a larger group brought
to worship. This year we will share this service at 7:00 PM with Woodcrest UCC
at their church at the corner of Thouron and Mt. Pleasant just over Cheltenham
Avenue in Philadelphia. They have a wonderful gospel choir and our choir will
sing too. You may want to car pool from Glenside UCC to help with parking.
Answers to Hard Questions
This winter as part of adult Christian
Formation classes, we are taking a look at some challenging topics of faith.
Everyone is welcome to join the discussion, whether you have been attending
since the beginning or just want to listen to one topic. The class
involves a short video lecture each Sunday morning by a leading theologian,
followed by a focused discussion of the topic. No pre-work or reading is
required; all you need to do is show up! Future topics include: Religion
and Science, Evangelism and Tolerance, Resurrection, and others. Come
join the discussion Sunday mornings.
